How To Choose A Credit Card

Many of us have credit cards, or at least would like to have one. However, you want to make sure that you choose the credit card that is right for you. Believe it or not, not all credit cards are created equal. There are many different credit card companies and they all do things a little differently than the other. In this article, I will discuss some of the things to look for when you are looking for a credit card.

Good interest rate

One of the most important things to look for when getting a new credit card is the amount of interest you are going to have to pay on what you spend. Not every credit card company has the same type of interest. Also, the better your credit rating when applying for a credit card could drastically lower the amount that your interest rate will be. This is because you are less risky for them than other customers are. Also, some interests rates are fixed and some are not. Even the fixed rates can change, so just watch out for that.

Reward program

There are many different types of reward programs out there for a lot of different credit card providers. Some credit card companies offer travel rewards which you can use to take trips with family or friends. Some companies have points programs for spending money on your credit card that you can redeem for many different things. Some even offer you cashback for the amount of money you spend. This is by far one of my favorite rewards programs available for credit cards.

Credit limit

Not everyone is going to get the same credit limit after they are accepted by a credit card company. Credit limits vary depending on your credit score. If your credit is not exceptional, then you are more likely to receive a lower credit limit, somewhere in the range of $500-$1000. However, if you have a very high credit rating, then you are more likely to receive a very high credit limit, maybe in the range of $5000-$10000. If you are not happy with your initial credit limit, then you can always request to have it increased in the future.

Billing period

You want to make sure that the billing period is something that is good for you. Most credit card companies have their billing period once per month. However, not everyone has their billing periods like this. Some other companies may have them more often, maybe even less often. either way, make sure it is something that you can work with.

Avoid scams

There are a lot of credit card scams out there. If you think the company is not real or is offering you something that is too good to be true, then steer clear. the last thing you have is to have all of your personal information out there.
